We hope you enjoyed worshiping with your family the past two weeks. Now it's time to get back to Kids Adventure. Here's what's coming up this weekend...
It's REMEMBER AND CELEBRATE weekend for both Kids Safari and Kids Summit. Each Remember and Celebrate weekend focuses on one of the seven festivals from the Old Testament. This weekend we'll be celebrating the Festival of First Fruits. This festival was a chance to celebrate God as the provider and to offer Him thanksgiving. First Fruits represent the celebration of the first grain harvest of the spring. One sheaf offering of grain was taken to the temple. These offerings were made the day following the Sabbath, which means it would be on Sunday. It marked the beginning of the two-month spring harvest. In the New Testament, Jesus resurrected as the first- fruit offering on Sunday, the day after Passover Sabbath.
We will tie this festival of first fruits with the Biblical principle that God is TRUSTWORTHY. He gives us what we need and continues to bless us when we give back to Him. We will also spend time reviewing our Big God Stories from the past six weeks (mostly having to do with the Christmas Story).
Pause this week to have your own personal moments to remember and celebrate God's goodness and all He has done through this season in your life. Take a look at your calendar and block out a day to Sabbath. Don't participate in anything you consider to be work. For one day stop and do the things that fill you up. Do only the things that will refresh and restore your soul. Refreshment looks different for each person. Some enjoy social gatherings, others enjoy time alone. Do whatever it is that will allow you to connect with God.
Be sure to check back each Monday for a preview of the week ahead in Kids Adventure!
