Ever sit at the kid's table? Every time I think of the kid table I think of Thanksgiving. We spent many years going to my uncle's house and celebrating turkey day with them. My cousins and I were close in age. We had some serious fun at the kid table doing things that confirmed our parent's reason for establishing such a place. But the most fun I ever had at the kid table was the year my grandmother decided she would join US at the kid table for Thanksgiving dinner. We never laughed so hard in our lives. At times we wondered if grandma Hartman would even make it through alive. She had more fun than any of us.
Sunday is Family Worship day at LSCC. Everyone first grade and up will join together in the main auditorium for worship. We will talk about the kid table and the adult table. You'll have to come and join us to find out the rest. I promise it will be a great time for your entire family.
Here is HomeFront Weekly for everyone...... click HERE.
Don't forget, if you do HomeFront Weekly from May 13, to June 17, print and sign each copy and turn them in on Father's Day we will give your child a prize!
See you Sunday!

Your Questions .1
For those who weren't at LSCC this past Sunday, we began a new series called "The Family Room" - six weeks of focus on family issues. I had the privilege of delivering Sunday's message entitled "Game Changers". We are called to be game changers in our children's lives.
One feature of this series is the opportunity we give to text questions about the message during the service. We spend a few minutes at the end answering some of those questions. Since we ran out of time to answer all of the questions, I promised to blog about the unanswered ones. So, here's your first installment of Q & A.
Question: What's the greatest game changer of all time?
Answer: I'll not begin an unending debate on the greatest sports game changer of all time. Too messy. I gave a few of my favorites in my message. I'll go straight to history.
I'm not sure how one could debate that anyone but Jesus Christ was the greatest game changer of all time. He's the only one who can say that the calendar is based on His birthday! All of history literally revolves around His life. He's also the only one who can say that He is God and proved it! He fulfilled over 300 prophecies, most of which were completely beyond human control (i.e. birth place, manner of death, people's response, etc.). More importantly for me, He has proven Himself to be the greatest game changer in my life. I could fill many blogs with stories of how He has changed for the better and changed me forever. He truly is "the way, the truth and the life."
Question: How do I stay positive about my relationship with my in-laws when I disagree with parts of their lifestyle?

Question: How do I stay positive about my relationship with my in-laws when I disagree with parts of their lifestyle?
Answer: Three thoughts. First, pray. James 5:16 says, "The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much." Don't cease praying for them. Notice that the effectiveness of prayer is dependent upon a righteous lifestyle. Your life speaks more loudly than your words. If you love them as described in 1 Corinthians 13, then you will be more likely to see them change.
Second, Jesus said Himself that He didn't "come to bring peace, but a sword." (Matthew 10:34) That's strong language for the God of Peace! What did He mean? Simply this. Those who choose to follow Jesus will pay a price. Jesus goes on to say that if we place a greater importance on our human relationships than with God, we aren't worthy of Him! We cannot expect to experience God's blessings when we compromise the teaching of His word to appease people.
Finally, talk this over with your spouse. God called you together as "one flesh". Therefore, you must act as a unit. Pray together. Think of ways you can display love while not compromising your core beliefs.
That's it for this edition. More to come tomorrow!

168
....as in, the number of hours in the week. It's the number of hours this week that I have to be a game changer.
Parents must be real. They must model faith before their children. They must raise the standard and settle for nothing less that a complete passion for God. They must parent beyond their capacity using the influence of the faith community as a resource.
Begin by creating a rhythm that gives opportunities to talk about your child about spiritual things. Make a simple first step. Schedule one day this week to sit down together with your family and spend some time in the Bible. We have a perfect tool to help. It's called HomeFront.
The weekly edition is designed to help you preview the Bible story we will teach preschoolers, kindergarteners and elementary children next Sunday, giving you the primary teaching role and LSCC the supporting role.

Click HERE for HomeFront weekly for Elementary.
Click HERE for HomeFront monthly; a publication that offers games, recipes, storytelling, activities, and more for you and your family.
By the way, if you do HomeFront weekly with your preschool, kindergarten or elementary child for the next six weeks, and bring your signed copies of HF weekly to church on June 17, we will give your child a gift!
No one should parent alone. Use your faith community as a tool box of support. Have a balanced approach understanding that no one has more influence on your child than YOU! How can LSCC help? Let us know. Go to lscckc.org. We are here to support you in your parenting journey.

New HomeFront Monthly
Kids Adventure is moving on to our next environment - Identity. By the way, did you know that we will go through ten different environments throughout the year? Each HomeFront monthly is designed around one environment. We usually spend about four weeks in each environment.
The idea of "environments" may be a bit confusing to you. Let me explain. Faith is supernatural. I am not capable of creating it in another person. If I try to impose my faith on my child, she will become resistant and maybe even rebellious. But, as I put my child in close proximity to God she will see Him and be more likely to want to have her own relationship with Him. So, what's my job? I am to cultivate environments that help my children's faith grow, teaching them how to cultivate a love relationship with Jesus as I cultivate my own. When we live our lives authentically before our children, they will see our transformation and follow in our ways.
HomeFront Monthly is a publication that gives you ideas on how to cultivate these environments. Open it up, choose what works for you, and go to it.
