Love Patiently!

I've been married to my wonderful wife for 22 years.  We've had our ups and downs but I can honestly say that my love for her grows with time.  She has been my greatest partner in everything I do.  I could never repay her gift of love for me.

I've been challenged many times in my married life to consider the extent of my love for her.  How long would my love endure for my wife?  Could there be a circumstance in life that would cause my love to fail?  The answer can be no other than "til death do us part!"  That's the commitment I've made.

I'm speaking in our adult worship services tomorrow.  This will be the final message in our series "Love is a Verb."  The message title is:  "Love Patiently."  As I began to prepare for this message I was reminded of a man I met nearly 15 years ago.  His story is inspiring.  He is a great example of patient love.  I ask you to take five minutes and read his story.

Robertson McQuilkin loved his wife Muriel with great patience.  I want to love that way.  But his story also reminds me that this is exactly how God loves me!  He provides for my daily needs and many times all he receives in return is a grunt and a groan.  Great loving patients on display no matter what the circumstances.

Lord, help me to love others as You love me!
